Customs Official of Indonesia Eko Darmanto Removed from Office, Here Are His Assets

Jakarta, Indonesia — The Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DGCE) of the Ministry of Finance has officially removed Eko Darmanto (ED) from his position as the Head of the Yogyakarta Customs Office.

Director of Communication and User Guidance of DJBC, Nirwala Dwi Heryanto stated that the dismissal of ED’s position has been carried out since Thursday (3/2/2023). The dismissal was based on an investigation into his extravagant display of wealth.

“Based on the leadership’s order, to facilitate the examination of Mr. ED, he has been temporarily suspended from the position of Head of Yogyakarta Customs Office, effective from March 2, 2023,” Nirwala said in a written statement on Friday (3/3/2023).

Nirwala added that further investigation related to this matter will be carried out by the Inspectorate General (Itjen) of the Ministry of Finance. “We thank the public for their attention and participation in maintaining the improvement of the Customs and Excise,” he said.

Eko Darmanto (ED) is being asked for clarification regarding his wealth by the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) and subsequently by the Corruption Eradication Commission since mid-week.

During the examination process, ED will be suspended from his position. The Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Finance, Awan Nurmawan Nuh, confirmed that ED will be removed from his position.

ED has been the subject of much discussion in recent times, known for flaunting his luxurious lifestyle on social media. Based on his latest LHKPN report, Eko recorded having a wealth of up to IDR 6.72 billion. Eko has 2 assets of land and buildings with a total value of up to IDR 51.93 billion located in the districts of Malang and North Jakarta.

The Ministry of Finance has requested clarification regarding several expensive vehicles displayed on social media. “Based on the examination of the photos of the person in front of the airplane, according to him, it was part of a flight training. The ministry’s confirmation team conducted an investigation on the aircraft ownership,” said Deputy Finance Minister Suahasil earlier.

“Regarding the flaunted photo, the person involved has admitted his mistake and promised to make amends,” Suahasil emphasized. As for the luxury motorcycles, Suahasil added that they were borrowed.
